Strategic Initiative:

Making our Sippewissett roads safer for cars, pedestrians, and cyclists

The main road connecting the village of Falmouth with Woods Hole is Woods Hole Road, but increasingly (with the advent of Waze and other navigation apps), cars heading to and from Woods Hole and the ferry terminal use Sippewissett Road and Quissett Avenue, which run through the heart of Sippewissett. Speeding on those roads has been a long-term issue threatening walkers, bikers, wildlife, and other drivers, and degrades the quality of life for the surrounding residential community. Under the leadership of David Margaretos and Charles Mann, working for years with town officials, four RADAR speed signs have been installed between Fieldcrest Farm and Woods Hole to heighten drivers’ awareness of speeding.
